How legal is the "Law" of Attraction?

Many people have asked, "If the Law of Attraction is a universal law, then why doesn't it work consistently, like gravity?  Why does it seem to work for some people and not for others?"

In general, I understand where the question comes from.  Many teachers in the Law of Attraction field have presented the LOA as a simple, "do this, get results" kind of thing.

It's not.  It's a very complex law with many variables.  Only when all of the variables are working together do you get the results you seek.

It's somewhat like the laws involved with weather prediction.

Meteorologists study the science of weather predicting for YEARS, have LOTS of fancy gadgets to help them know what the weather is doing, and use MASSIVE computers to calculate as many variables as they can.

And yet, how often do their predictions turn out the way they say?

They may predict rain, and the day is perfectly sunny?  Or it could be the other way around, predicting sunny skies only to have rain clouds come in and ruin your picnic.

It's not that the laws don't work.  It's because the scientists aren't using enough information in their calculations.

This is because there are a LOT of variables to consider — wind speeds, obstructions to the wind, changing the wind’s course along the way, clouds which alter how strong the sun shines on different parts of the ground, creating warm spots and cooler spots, and so on.

This is why we have a principle called the "Butterfly Effect."  Tiny changes in one area can potentially lead to bigger changes elsewhere.

When you’re dealing with the Law of Attraction, which works according to your belief system, conscious and subconscious, there are just as many variables — what do you believe about the surface situation you want to change, what do you believe about your ability to change it, what do you believe is normal for your life, how much do you believe it’s possible to change it with the LOA, and hundreds of other beliefs.

This is why it doesn’t operate as simply as the law of gravity, which is a MUCH simpler law.

In my book, Choose To Believe, I also compare this to the science of making wine.  We all know it's possible.  We all know there are well-known principles involved in making wine.  Much like the principles involved in designing computer circuits.  But how many of us could actually do it?

Yes, the Law of Attraction works according to your beliefs, and this may be stated as "The world around you is a direct reflection of what you believe.  Change what you believe, and the outer world will change as well."

However, this appears much simpler than it really is.

In reality, there may be dozens, or hundreds, of beliefs that need to be changed to effect a specific manifestation.  Changing 1 or 2 just won't do it.

Affirmations can be an excellent way to change what you believe, as long as you can state your affirmations with confidence.  That's the beauty of the "pacing and leading" affirmation concept I teach in the Choose To Believe material.  It's an easy way to bring confidence to any affirmation you want to use.

Faith anchors are another way.

Visualizations can also be a good way to change what you believe.  There are a few variables to consider here too, such as the inclusion of all related beliefs, and a way of connecting your vision to reality.

There are many ways to change what you believe.  The main "problem" that many people gloss over, or ignore completely, is that there may be MANY beliefs to be changed.

One of the reasons I created the new EmBRACES system was to give folks an easy way to address hundreds of beliefs without spending hours and hours on it every week for months on end to produce the results they want.

When you are changing your beliefs "manually", with affirmations, visualizations, or other consciously-directed techniques, changing hundreds of beliefs takes a significant amount of time.

As an example, let's say that using the techniques taught in my Choose To Believe material, you can effectively change a belief in just 10 minutes.  If you have 100 beliefs to change, this will take more than 16 hours to accomplish.  If you have 500 beliefs to change, you'll spend over 83 hours working on it.

And then there's the time involved in finding which beliefs within your mind need to be changed, out of the millions of beliefs that make up your belief system.

That's time taken away from other things you may want to do.  How much is your time worth?

Again, the reason I created the EmBRACES system was to help folks change the 492 most important beliefs for true abundance (relationships, prosperity, and general peace of mind) without taking any time out of your schedule.

The bottom line here is that the Law of Attraction cannot be compared to the Law of Gravity.  They are 2 completely different things.  The Law of Gravity is simple.  The Law of Attraction may be described simply, but the law itself is much more complex.

To each his own

No, I am not talking about my belief in what I prefer to call the Power of Attraction, I am talking about how I personallly use EmBraces. In my office and home, Embraces runs 24/7. I run it at an audible level but not loud enough to distract me from my other duties. I know that my subconscious is hearing every word but my conscious mind has tuned it out. I have tried a number  of different methods but this is what seems to work best for me. On a subtle level, I know that all 492 beliefs are esentially being embeded in my subconscious without the time wasting and often ineffective methods like affirmations and others.
