As an affiliate, your job will be to distribute materials which help people, such as insightful articles, empowering ebooks and reports, and reviews of our products.  These materials provide excellent value to those who receive them, and simply bring our products to the reader's awareness.  Such a "soft sell" approach works very well for us, and allows our affiliates to feel proud to represent us, since there is no hard selling involved.

In return, we offer generous commissions whenever any of your referrals result in a sale.  Commissions start at 40% and go up to 70% depending on the volume of sales referred during the previous 12 months, rewarding those who are consistently more productive.

This should make it easier to understand:

• 40% base-level commissions
• 45% after $350 in sales. (Within the previous 12 months.)
• 50% after $750 in sales. ($400 in sales at the 45% level.)
• 55% after $1,500 in sales. ($750 in sales at the 50% level.)
• 60% after $3,000 in sales. ($1,500 in sales at the 55% level.)
• 65% after $7,000 in sales. ($4,000 in sales at the 60% level.)
• 70% after $15,000 in sales. ($8,000 in sales at the 65% level.)

Since many of our packages are currently priced at $49 each, it's relatively easy to reach the higher levels. 
For instance:

• 8 sales to reach the 45% level  ($19.60 commissions per sale)
• 8 more sales to reach the 50% level  ($22.05 commissions per sale)
• 15 more sales to reach the 55% level  ($24.50 commissions per sale)
• 31 more sales to reach the 60% level  ($26.95 commissions per sale)
• 92 more sales to reach the 65% level  ($29.40 commissions per sale)
• 153 more sales to reach the 70% level  ($31.85 commissions per sale)
• All further sales* would generate $34.30 in commissions for you.

 * - Commission levels are based on sales made in the previous 12 months. 
It's possible to drop down to lower commission levels

2nd-tier commissions

Our affiliate program also pays out "2nd-tier" commissions.  These are commissions earned from sales referred by someone you refer into our program.  This is best described with an example.

Let's say you are able to get the attention of those who run Oprah's website.  And let's say they send out a recommendation to their ezine subscribers to purchase our products.  (If this happens, I'll have to upgrade my server to handle all the new traffic!)

You know that any book recommended by Oprah immediately hits #1 on all the bestseller lists.  It's completely possible that we make over 5,000 new sales from such a scenario. 

Maybe even 10,000.

At 5,000 new sales, we'd bring in a total of around $245,000.

Oprah's team would get 40% (about $98,000) of that since they made the direct referrals.  However, because you brought Oprah's team into the system, you would get 5%, or about $12,250.

40% commissions paid out on the first tier. 5% commission paid out on the 2nd tier.

If 10,000 new members joined, there would be twice as much money for everyone.

How to join

Our affiliate program is currently available only to our customers.  This is to ensure that the only people promoting our site are those who have direct experience with our products.  After years of being online, we've found that allowing non-customers to join our affiliate program turned out to be a waste of time for all involved.

Our system is set up so that all customers are automatically given affiliate status, and there are a variety of promotional materials available in the members area where you access your purchased items.  You'll also find excellent instructions on how to use these materials for best results.  And if you ever need additional assistance, help is just an email away.

In order to give you the clearest and most accurate description of our affiliate program, we asked Rosalind Gardner if we could use her "20 Questions" as outlined in her "Super Affiliate Handbook", a reference that is guaranteed to help any affiliate make more money promoting other people's stuff online.

1. Is the Company Reputable? - PowerKeys Publishing has been in business since January 2003. We currently have several affiliates who have been with us since we first started our in-house program. We can provide references upon request.
2. Is there an Affiliate Agreement? - This is currently being rewritten to reflect the current program.
3. What are the Terms of Agreement? - To Be Announced.
4. May I Terminate the Agreement? If so, how? - You may terminate your membership account for any reason whatsoever. The easiest way to do this is to simply send us an email stating your desire and your membership account will be cancelled immediately.
5. Am I eligible for this program? - Yes!  All members/customers are automatically given affiliate status.
6. Is there a Fee to Join the Program? - No. Our program is completely free to our customers/members.
7. Does the Program Require Exclusivity? - No. You may promote any other programs you wish.
8. What is the Program Type? - We offer a Pay-Per-Sale affiliate program.  We pay you a percentage of every sale that results from your referrals.
9. What is the Commission Rate? - We offer a variable commission rate that is based on performance. The base level commission is 40% and goes up from there. Performance levels are based on the volume of sales you've referred during the previous 12 months.  Performance reward commissions are as follows:

• 45% after $350 in sales. (Within the previous 12 months.)
• 50% after $750 in sales. ($400 in sales at the 45% level.)
• 55% after $1,500 in sales. ($750 in sales at the 50% level.)
• 60% after $3,000 in sales. ($1,500 in sales at the 55% level.)

10. How Long are Cookies Set to Last? - Cookies set by the system last for 180 days, or 6 months.  If you refer someone to our site and they come back 6 months later to join, you'll be credited with that referral, unless another affiliate refers that person in the interim. (Most recent affiliate gets credit.)
11. Do I Get Credit for Recurring Sales? - Yes.
12. Does the Program Pay Lifetime Commissions? - Yes.  Once the person you've referred joins, they are permanently assigned to you, and all purchases made by that person will generate commissions for you.
13. Is it a 2-Tier or Multiple-Tier Program? - Yes.  We pay 5% on 2nd-tier referrals. This means that all referrals made by those you've referred into the system will generate commissions for you as well as for them.
14. Are Sales Statistics Reported in Real Time? - Yes. All reports contain data collected at the time the report is generated, even in the previous microsecond.
15. Are Merchant Copy & Sales Tools Offered? - Yes. We do our best to provide the most extensive collection of promotional materials possible.  We will be adding more sales tools in the near future.
16. How Often Do I Get Paid? - Every month. Commissions are paid on or before the second Friday of each month and include commission earned up to the end of the previous month. We do not hold anything back to cover potential refunds (which are rare - less than 3%), but give you everything you've earned.
17. HOW Do I Get Paid? - You have your choice between getting paid via PayPal, physical check, or E-Gold. There is no “processing fee” either way. You get the full amount of your commissions.  You select your preferred payment option in the Affiliate's Area, which is found through the Membership Admin page.
18. Does the Merchant use Third Party Billing? - No, we handle all payments in-house. Once again, you may contact some of our current affiliates if this is a concern for you to verify our payment history. References are available upon request.
19. Is There a Minimum Payout Amount? - Yes, you must earn a minimum of $50 in commissions before a payment will be processed. This is to compensate for the fact that we do not charge a “processing fee” for paying you, nor hold back to cover refunds.

21. What other factors should I consider? - Our sales conversions are among the highest in the industry. It is not uncommon for an affiliate to see 3% to 8% conversions when promoting our products. Over a recent 12-month period (March 2008 through February 2009), our affiliates saw AVERAGE sales conversions of 4.13%.  In some unusual situations, we've seen conversions (to paid products) as high as 16%. This increases the average visitor value, a very important measure of the profitability of a program. Our average visitor value fluctuates depending on the quality of traffic we get, but tends to fall between 70¢ and $3 per visitor. Once again, over the recent 12-month period, our affiliates AVERAGED $1.06 per visitor!  AVERAGE affiliate commissions (with bonuses) over the same 12 months have been $0.61 per click. 
22. How has the recent change of the site format affected the numbers? - At this point, it's too early to give definite numbers.  During the 10-day launch period, we saw overall conversions of visitors to paid memberships to be around 2.29%.  The easiest way to compare site performance is with the $/visitor number, which was $1.50 per visitor during our 10-day re-launch. Since then, we have tested, tracked, and found several enhancements which have increased sales performance even more.  Statistically significant numbers should be available within the next month or two.
